Judge Steps Down After Sexual Misconduct Allegations Arise

|

A member of the federal appeals court by the name of Alex Kozinski resigned immediately following accusations of sexual misconduct. Alex is also a former chief judge of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. He retired after 15 women came forward and revealed that Kozinski had made inappropriate comments of a sexual nature and or groped them while working in his office, all clear signs of sexual misconduct. Alex was known to be eccentric and bold during legal proceedings. Amidst all the Hollywood allegations among many famous actors, Kozinski stepped down immediately following the accusations of sexual misconduct fearing the negative backlash the federal judiciary would face. In addition to his accusations, he had also maintained a pornographic website that was public.

Two women have stepped forward and disclosed details of their encounters with Kozinski. Heidi Bond worked for the former judge in 2007 for a year and told the Post that he would call her into his office to show her naked pictures of women. He would ask her things like if she thought the photos were real and if they sexually aroused her. Another woman, Christine Miller, a former U.S. Court of Federal Claims judge, told the same newspaper that Kozinski fondled her breasts during a car ride. They were both in a town car after attending a 1986 legal event in Baltimore. Miller said that he grabbed her breasts after she declined his offer of going to a hotel to spend the night with him. Alex Kozinski made a statement in regards to the allegations admitting that he “may not have been mindful enough of the special challenges and pressures that women face in the workplace.” Kozinski also said: “It grieves me to learn that I caused any of my clerks to feel uncomfortable; this was never my intent and for this, I sincerely apologize.”
